Hi, I’m Garfield, and boy, do I have a story… but don’t worry, it has a happy ending! I’m a cool dude who was recently very stressed in my former home. There was a lot going on—divorce, moving, health and more. I was feeding off the stress of the humans and I started not being the best about using my box, which got better when I had a home base in the laundry room where I could chill out on my own. I was taken to the vet to be euthanized because it was all too much, even though I was healthy and we knew it was behavioral. Well, I had an angel watching over me, because one of the employees at the vet saw how awesome I am and reached out to FieldHaven as a last ditch effort to save me. They explained I was going to be euthanized and didn’t deserve it. FieldHaven saved me!!! They took me in within 24 hours, and sure enough, as soon as I was away from the stress my behavior completely changed. I’ve had zero accidents, I’m healthy, happy, and beyond fabulous. It’s like a weight as been lifted from me and I no longer have to worry! It just goes to show that if a kitty is ever not using the box due to behavior, a change in environment almost always (99.99%) fixes that. I am so lucky that I was saved and now I am ready for a long, loving, happy life with YOU! I prefer a laid-back, mellow, peaceful, stress free home (doesn’t everyone?!), big windows and lots of fresh air options. I like to hunt mice toys and will catch any sky raisins (flies) who fall from the sky. I’ll probably be OK with a fellow mellow, independent four-legged companions but make sure those intros are perfectly slow and supervised. So… all that aside, I’ve been given my second chance so are you ready to give me my next chapter?
